Q: I can’t make it to the race, but would like to donate to the HTAF.
A: If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the Seattle Animal Shelter, you can easily donate online using Active.com, or, you can send a check payable to: Help The Animals Fund/Furry 5K
Mail your donation to: Seattle Animal Shelter, 2061 - 15th Avenue West, Seattle, WA 98119
The Seattle Animal Shelter’s tax ID# is 91-6001275

Q: Is the registration fee for the whole family or per person?
A: The registration fee is per person. We do not offer a family registration fee. Registration fees are outlined here.

Q: Can I pick up my race packet and t-shirt before the race?
A: Yes, click here to find our where.

Q: I don't have a dog. Can I still participate in the Furry 5K?
A: Everybody is welcomed to participate in the Furry 5K!

Q: I don't have a dog. Can I run one of the shelter dogs?
A: Only SAS Staff and SAS trained volunteers are allowed to handle shelter animals. All SAS volunteers are required to go through a certain amount of training before ever handling any shelter animals.

Q: I have a puppy that is not quite 6 months old but is very active. We would like to run him/her to the race. Would this be okay?
A: Feel free to bring your puppy to the race however you will need to participate in the walk and not the run. This regulation was established with your puppy's best interest and health in mind.

Q: Will there be shelter dogs at the race? We think it will be great to see all of the dogs that are available for adoption.
A: We would love nothing more than to show off the dogs that are available for adoption at the race but due to the volume of people and dogs, the atmosphere might prove to be too much excitement or stressful for them. You might find a shelter dog or two participating in the race but those shelter dogs will be handled by one of our experienced volunteers so keep an eye out for the blue and yellow "I'm Available for Adoption" Banner. Regardless, we encourage you to stop by the shelter after the race to visit with the animals. The shelter will be open that Sunday from 12-6 PM.

Q: I have an animal {other than a dog} that I would like to bring. They get along with our family dogs as well as other dogs in the neighborhood so we don't think it will be a problem. Would this be okay?
A: Unfortunately other animals can’t participate in the Furry 5k. We recommend you leave your other animals at home on race day as we can not make any assumptions that all of the other dogs at the race will respond the same as your family or neighborhood dogs and vice versa. The circumstances are different when considering 1,000+ dogs.

The event does benefit ALL ANIMALS at the Seattle Animal Shelter though!

Q: Can I use my in-skates or ride my scooter in the Furry 5K?
A: For the safety of others (both humans and animals) we request that you do not.

Q: Are baby strollers allowed in the Furry 5K?
A: Yes, they are.

Q: I have a child, do I need to register them?
A: We ask that you do because producing this event costs money and we provide many amenities at the event that you/your child can enjoy. This is a fundraiser so we hope that you will think of the registration fee simply as a donation to a good cause.
