Seattle Animal Shelter volunteers work 365 days a year to help animals and raise funds to fulfill the shelter’s mission of “saving one life at a time.” The program includes more than 600 dedicated volunteers who provide over 25,000 hours of service per year and space for 900 animals in their own homes.

Foster Care Program
Be a hero, save a life! Fostering can be an excellent family project. It is an intense, short-term commitment where you care for a shelter animal in your own home. Foster orientations are held monthly, and more foster parents are always needed. Please visit www.seattle.gov/animal-shelter/volunteer/foster-care to find out how you can become a foster parent.
